I know at last I know nothing; Ignorance
On such a scale, dazzels and frees my soul
Child-wonder becomes my daily bread
Broken for me each passing moment. ::: RUMI
Mother nature's boundless beauty and nurturing source of life inspires Vaasvara Jewelry. Enthused by ancient art, spirituality and world cultures, my work represents a fusion of contemporary and ethnic art mirroring my identity as an Asian Indian and American woman. The name vaasvara is derived from the names of my two young kids, my son Vaasu and daughter Vardaa.
The process of jewelry making for me is like mindfulness meditation. The possibilities of transforming a spool of wire and gemstones or a lump of clay into something exquisite and precious keep me inspired. I totally surrender to these materials inclined over my studio table working and loosing all track of space, time and myself. This, I realized, is what I need to truly find myself as I go through the triumphs and tribulations of life; juggling multiple roles amidst demanding schedules of everyday life. There are some valuable lessons I've learned on the way; never give up, but know when to let go. You will succeed many times and fail a few other times; you need the gifts of both to master your art and craft. If you stop striving to be better; you will stop being good.
I have been making jewelry for four years. I have a background in web design and graphic design. My hobbies include photography, drawing, painting, reading and gardening. I am also a certified Level 1 Art clay instructor.
I work in the techniques of metal clay, wire wrapping, weaving, coiling and stringing. The most important tools are my hands! I primarily work with fine silver, silver metal clay and sterling silver materials. Did I mention I love gemstones? Here you will find finest quality and many rare gems and organic materials like pearls, shells, amber, corals and fossilized stones. Richard Bach once wrote, 'Image is a dream, Beauty is real.' I hope you experience this when you see vaasvara jewelry in person and appreciate not only the beauty of this exquisitely made jewelry by an artists' hands but the beauty that lies within and around you.
